Review of Mulholland Dr. (1999) by Jhon E — 11 Aug 2011

I originally saw this at the Toronto Film Festival sitting directly in front of Justin Theroux and Laura Harring. David Lynch was there, but they warned him I would stalk him and so I didn't actually see him properly.

There are few words one can use to describe this film. It incorporates every genre into one film. Halway in, it completely changes leaving the viewer a lifetime to figure out what it was all about.

But I loved it.

Like Lynch's other films, everything is rock solid. The soundtrack is ideal for this film. The story, performances, editing... everything is just dead-on. It's like Lynch set-out to show how to make a perfect movie and accomplished its task.

If not for Wild at Heart, this could possibly be the best movie ever made. In my opinion, anyway.
