Review of Monsieur Verdoux (1947) by Jordan T — 11 May 2014
Charlie Chaplain continues to amaze me and deliver fantastic film after fantastic film. He slips from silent clown to murderous gentle man in this "comedy of murders." Made at a time when Chaplain was on the verge of exile from the U.
S., the movie is both a shocking change of Chaplain's screen persona and sharp indictment on the measure of war and murder.
