Reminiscent of 1950's in a simple yet powerful tale of patriotism and bravery. If you like straight forward war movies you'll enjoy this. Plenty of action. Seeing how it was Chinese produced there was no holding back in using anti-Japanese slang though in fairness it tried to be balanced.
Also, a sense that the war was unnecessary and both America and Japan lost good men unnecessarily. We don't produce men like that anymore.
