Tonally this is one of the most confused films I think I have ever seen. Some scenes feature near slapstick parodies of the media coverage that cases like this receive whilst the next scene is one of the most disturbing and uncomfortable rape scenes I've witnessed.
I don't have a problem with rape scenes in cinema. As somebody who has seen Irreversible I never thought a rape scene would have this effect on me. I don't know what it was, perhaps age or innocence, but this really did not sit well with me at all.
