The movie continues the tradition of the 1950s-60s TV show about a poker player, which had the unusual but witty and brilliant scripts. Mel Gibson plays the lead, with Jody Foster in an unusually good performance as his love interest, and James Garner in a significant role.
It is all about the big poker tournament and the various con artists and scams along the way and afterwards. With James Coburn and a cameo by Danny Glover.
