Review of Man with the Screaming Brain (2005) by Dustin A — 01 Jan 2009
In a sea of over produced, over edited CGI crap, forgive me if I enjoyed this low budget B movie more than I should have. Bruce Campbell kicks it old school securing the financing, directing and starring in the film himself.
Succeeding on every intended level the film is unabashed low budget, B-movie cheese. Even better is the physical performance Campbell turns in. It's his best since Army of Darkness. For some the film may not to do enough winking at the camera, there may not be enough obvious set up and punch line gags, and their definitely are not alot of Campbell one liners.
The proceedings are played straight like the very best bad sci-fi movie.(If you call breakdancing robots, evil gypsy curses,a mad scientist, and a rapping Ted Raimi straight) If you don't like that.
..Than you just don't get it.
