Review of Major Dundee (1965) by Stephen H — 22 Jun 2007
The prototype for Sam Peckinpah's later, more violent western The Wild Bunch. Here, the cause is more noble, but Peckinpah still manages to bring in plenty of grey areas as usual. It's a miracle this film can be presented in this form, as the original version was severely cut.
A must for fans of both Peckinpah and Sergio Leone, as well as Heston and James Coburn.
