Review of Madison (2005) by Vance W — 23 Apr 2009
If you're from small-town America, as I am, this film should resonate deeply. In an age of mini-malls and ethernet connections, we sometimes confuse over-development with progress and forget that wide-open spaces and breathing room are the fountainhead of early American culture.
"Madison" reminds the viewer that sometimes heritage comes in small packages, but that it's worth fighting for. The acting can't be said to have been spectacular - very low key, in fact - but, then, it wasn't the individuals but the town which captivated as the main character.
