Review of LoveDeath (2006) by Diony E — 10 Aug 2009
If you like weird Japanese movies with nonsensical characters (Survive Style 5+, Ichi the Killer, Sharkskin Man and Peach Hip Girl) or just like nonsensicial violence (Versus, Machine Girl) you 'might' like this. This was made by Ryuhei Kitamura, director of Versus, and it plays out similarly, minus the martial arts and zombies, and more like a Yakuza black comedy.
I gave it minus marks for it's long runtime, and it is very long, 2 hours and 40 minutes. I usually enjoy long movies, but this one just felt too long. The final act itself is 45 minutes long, that's too long for a climactic setting. But overall, not a bad watch.
