Review of Lola Montès (1955) by Dalia D — 25 Oct 2008
A film that's difficult to forget. the tightly packed mise-en-scene, with its layers of lace, ever changing aspect ratio, and lingering lap dissolves, makes the air of the theatre itself dense with sensuous tension.
nothing has changed since ophuls spoke to us about the spectacle of the 'fallen' woman (i.e. berating a woman who loves many, though she loves them deeply.).
This review of Lola Montès (1955) was written by Dalia D on 25 Oct 2008.
