Review of Laurence Anyways (2012) by Charles C — 26 May 2012
Quebec filmmaker Xavier Dolan takes on a matter that we don't see or speak of very often on or off screen.
While both lead actors, Paupaud and Clément give exquisite performances, Clément steals the entire movie with her incredible performance.
The film overall feels like one long scene. It is way too long, clocking in at 2hrs 40mins, it's as if Dolan wasn't sure where to cut. If it wasn't for the acting, Dolan's film would have no potential. The story is at times dull and you're not sure whether to laugh or cry.
Wait for DVD.
