Review of L'Argent (1983) by Zeeshan M — 14 Jul 2008
Subtle, glacial and unsentimental portrait of the moral decay of secular, capitalist [or more specifically "money" obsessed] france. What the film lacks in intellectual capacity it makes up for in its ardour.
The echoes of russian-lit are impressive and what Bresson lacks in the prosaic, he compensates it with his idiosyncratic cinematic voice.
