Review of Lady Jane (1986) by May T — 16 Nov 2007
I purchased this film spurred on by my love of period pieces and curiousity towards these early performances of Bonham Carter and Elwes. While its plot may take generous helpings of artistic licence, veering away from historical fact, this movie is nevertheless riveting, moving and passionate.
A story of stolen youth and lost innocence, set amidst a bleak world of power and politics; a haunting story accompanied by an equally haunting score. Four stars.
