Warning...this is a 4-hour movie. About 3 hours of it is silent, as it shows the painters many attempts to paint his long lost masterpiece "La Belle Nioseuse." Also, it is French...very French, but in a good way.
If you are not into the journey, then even seeing a nude Emmanuelle Beart for hours won't save you. But this movie really delves into the idea of "art as truth," even if that truth hurts.
And in this case, no one gets out unscathed. How much are you willing to lose for art? Excellent movie.
