Review of Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter (2014) by Tatsuhito K — 17 Aug 2015
An extremely bizarre yet oddly engaging and darkly comedic drama. In terms of narrative, I feel like a lot of the things in the film would not make any sense (Fargo is a movie, not a true story). But the cinematography is stunning, and Rinko Kikuchi does a solid job as a Japanese woman who embarks on a journey of treasure hunt.
Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter is what you call an intriguing film, and if you can accept its strange premise, you will find some enjoyment in this film.
