A sort of French version of Rachel Getting Married, Il y a Longtemps que Je T'aime is one of those movies that becomes a favorite instantly. It taunts you with a seemingly unsolvable mystery, the secret of this main characters' past, and pulls you in like a grappling hook of disgust, anger, sympathy and humor.
Outstanding performances by the entire cast and presented in a way only the french seem to know how to do. All in all a beautiful and thought provoking film.
