Review of In My Father's Den (2004) by Scot C — 07 Dec 2010
New Zealand doesnt turn out as many films as Australia, but the ones i've seen have been top notch, and this is no different. It is a very smartly written drama, that builds up slowly into a story with a few turns that gives the viewer all the answers they've been searching for.
This film is quite powerful in some aspects, and rightfully gets you sympathising with the protagonist, especially when his past as a teenager is made known. So very solid performances, and Matthew MacFayden in his performnce is engrossing to watch, but purely because he keeps so much back as a character, and pulls that off as an actor brilliantly.
This is a solid film, that deserves the recognition.
