Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Jonathan S — 10 Feb 2009

Wow, what can I say about this movie. First, it's more of an experience than anything. There is so much packed into a movie that you really feel like you've been through something when it's over.

Miike won me over with this one after I was turned on to the Dead or Alive series. The characters are great, the cinematography is top-notch, and there is huge amounts of gore. The movie is more of a visual shock, but is also driven by a superb story.

All I can say is that you should watch this any chance you get. I've seen it at least 9 times and could stand to watch it right now. But be sure to pay attention to the ending, for it messes most people up.
