This film took two pet peeves of mine--repeated use of continuous long shots and characters who never bother to use their voices--and made me forget they were even pet peeves of mine. The performances are touching, and it contains one of the funniest sex scenes I've ever watched, in which a man and woman cough through mouth covers because of city pollution throughout, Tsai turns the city into a character, and an interesting one at that.
