Review of I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore (2017) by Rebecca F — 30 Sep 2017
This movie is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Whether you're religious or not, it has many biblical references, especially since the main character's name is Ruth. Her character starts off at her lowest point, apathetic and deeply depressed about life and how terrible people are to one another.
Despite taking her anti-depressants, she finds herself in this zombie like state of feeling nothing. But something happens to her that sets her on a quest to make the world right again. Someone steals from her, and when she goes to confront them, she finds herself in the face of true evil.
Through the darkness in which she endures, she develops faith once again in herself, in her connection to her friend (Elijah Wood), and spiritually with God, humanity, the universe, or whatever you want to call it.
