Review of Heartless (2010) by Virginie B — 28 Apr 2011
Not since The Reflecting Skin has director Philip Ridley taken the reins of an equally influential film, until Heartless.
Musician/Actor Jim Sturgess,( best known for playing Jude in across the Universe) helms an indie English cast, through a beautiful, heavily consistent dark opera of despair and acceptance, scored by the brilliant David Julyan.
A pinch of Donnie Darko here, a dab of Nicolas Winding there and you've a concoction bound to please those who have acquired a taste for the dark and dreary cult genre.
