Review of Haute Cuisine (2012) by Ola S — 18 Jul 2013
Being chef du cuisine of Le Président de la Republique is maybe not easy and it wasn't easier for the lady who took this Holy Mission during Mitterand. In a man's world or at least a man's kitchen.
Hortense Laborie is told by the president to make simple food, but it sometime becomes parodic in its complexity. You sit there and long for something from the fridge, just as a protest.
Of course there are intrigues and of course Hoetense loses and retires to an island close to Antarctica. It's rather well acted by Catherine Frot, but it fdoesn't make us hungry.
