Review of Hamlet 2 (2008) by Brian S — 16 Oct 2010
Okay, this is a drama-teacher 5 stars, as not everyone will appreciate the profane and insane lead character's quest to make a musical sequel to Hamlet (starring Jesus and Einstein). What I love about H2 is how it simultaneously celebrates and parodies the "inspirational teacher" film, while showing how powerful theater is as a collaborative art and collective experience.
See, now I've made it sound boring, but it isn't! If you've ever done a school play with an "artiste" director, you'll scream with laughter throughout and be genuinely moved by the finale.
