Review of Goodnight Mommy (2015) by Everett W — 22 Oct 2015
Goodnight Mommy: This Austrian psychological horror film is one of the most relentlessly disturbing films I have seen in years. The premise is simple - a bandaged-up plastic surgery patient returns home to her twin sons, who question whether she is truly their mother.
Despite figuring out the twist very early on, the more the story comes to light, the darker and more exponentially dreadful and gruesome it gets. This film is meant to evoke a strong, visceral reaction - you will either be fascinated by it or will absolutely hate it.
Regardless, you will want to take an emotional Silkwood shower to wash away the grossness afterwards. B.
