Review of Gone Baby Gone (2007) by Michael V — 08 Jun 2011
"Ben Affleck's first homerun. This is one of the most complex, jaw-dropping, memorable, well-acted & underrated films of the decade. Ben's brother, Casey Affleck (who's a much better actor than Ben) is terrific here, it's his best performance since his Oscar nod role in The Assassination Of Jesse Jame By The Coward Robert Ford.
Morgan Freeman is great as usual & same with Ed Harris. Michelle Monaghan is decent. The movie scene-stealing, character actress Amy Ryan who got nominated for this was so damn good, she really stole this movie.
Another star here is Harry Gregson-Williams who composes one of the most gorgeous soundtracks i've heard (very shame that he didn't get nominated). I might have liked The Town better but Gone Baby Gone is still phenomenal memorable & full of twist and turns.
Ben Affleck is a director to look out for, he's 2 for 2.'.
