Review of Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film (2006) by Stephen C — 24 Dec 2007
Excellent documentary covering the rise and fall and rise again of one of the Cinemas most vilified genres.
All the main players are dealt with here including John Carpenter and Wes Craven.
And there is even room for other lesser known kings of the genre including Sean S Cunnigham and Fred Walton.
The films covered to are great Halloween ,Nightmare on Em Street ,The crap Silent Night Deadly Night and the sadly Neglected Happy Bithday to me and My Bloody Valentine.
Whats important to remeber is that though most So Called Critics hated these movies.
The next wave of directors such As Eli Roth ,Rober Rodriquez and Quinten Tarantino loved these films and have incorperated a lot of there stuff into there own work.
And besides I could listen to Tom Savini all night long there is a guy who knows special FX.
