Review of Future War (1997) by Jean-Francois V — 24 May 2009
One of the better MST3K episodes features a pretty original film concept where a master race of cyborgs has arrived from the future to abduct dinosaurs and people from the past to use them as tracking dogs and slaves. A cheap imitation Van Damme escapes something and arrives to Earth (their heaven) and kick-boxes dinosaurs in a cardboard box factory until they explode.
A ex-prostitute nun arrives to help and VD + a lot of odd people, including kids, swat teams and gangbangers team up to fight the cyborgs, who like to shoot religious statues to pieces. Mega-chin Robert Z'Dar stars as the Cyborg Master and is beaten up pretty easily a couple of times.
A very funny MST3K commentary saves the dragged-out discussion bit with bad acting until dinosaur-boxing is resumed. Highly recommended.
