Review of Funny Girl (1968) by Lawrence L — 05 Sep 2007
For fans of film musicals and fans of Streisand. Her first film performance grabbed 1/2 an Oscar (Kate Hepburn shared the title of Best Actress that year). William Wyler provides strong direction in an excellent adaptation of a stage musical whose biggest asset was it's young star and a knock out score by Jule Stein and Bob Merrill.
Barbra showed that her face was more than adequately photogenic for the screen and the film musical could still be popular. Oh, and that score!
