Review of Frosty Returns (1992) by Davey M — 16 Dec 2008
A very strange film indeed--Bill Melendez directs a screenplay more packed with pop culture references and jokes only adults will get than the "Shrek" movies, but the animation style is fun, and best of all it's an early 90s anti-global warming environmentally aware Christmas special for kids.
John Goodman turns out to be a very good choice for the voice of Frosty, and Mark Mothersbaugh writes some unfortunate music in his post-Devo, pre-Wes Anderson, "Rugrats" contemporary phase.
Not a classic like the Rankin-Bass "Frosty," but fun, worthwhile, and (best of all) very, very strange.
