Review of Fantastic Planet (1973) by Jordan S — 27 Nov 2007
One the greatest films ever, on the level of, and rather similar to, Mononoke-Hime and Pom Poko. I like how varied it is; how some parts are without dialogue and so have the feel of an art-house short, while other parts feel just like anime.
My only objective complaints are that the ending is /slightly/ abrupt, and it feels strange that all the Oms appear to be European. The cut-out animation can lack fluidity, but as it's the only feature film to made in this medium, there isn't really much to compare it to.
