Review of Ed Wood (1994) by John M — 14 Aug 2010
In my opinion, Tim Burtons's best effort. It is a lovingly crafted tribute to a bad film maker who was a bit of a misfit and a perpetual optimist, succesfully portrayed by Johnny Depp. Also Special mention goes to Martin Landau as the washed up 1930's horror movie star Bela Logosi, who plays the aged and struggling actor who is also a tortured soul.
It is also beautifully filmed, giving a 1950's B movie feel to it and it is consistantly funny throughout as we watch the struggling director in his endless tanacity to get his movies made by any means possible, even if it means shooting them quickly, despite the many visible mistakes that were made during takes!
