Review of Eating Out (2004) by Elliott M — 27 May 2007
This movie is hysterically terrible. Like a majority of strictly gay film, this movie seems to do more for stereotypes than it does for acceptance.
That being said, you don't have to think much to watch it. It's a frivelous farce with crass dialogue and an unoriginal concept.
So why is it, in my opinion, worth seeing? Well, why do people slow down to watch traffic accidents? Same idea.
Actually, there is one saving grace of the movie. While edited down to just a bit part, Rebekah Kochan provides the only laughter that isn't motivated by discomfort. Kochan seems the be the only actor able to play a character and not just mug for the camera.
Bottom line, if you're looking for groundbreaking cinema - look again. If you're looking for a movie you can remove yourself from completely, you've found it. Although you'll probably want to shower later.
