Duma tells the family friendly story of a boy who helps raise and then return an orphaned cheetah to the wild. The beauty of this story has to do with the multiple layers that entwine over the course of the journey.

There is Xan, a pre-teen who takes on this challenge after a startling family event, there is Duma, the cheetah who is not a tame housecat, but a predator really suited to the wild, there is Rip, a villager who goes to the big city to make big money, but realizes that he needs to return home.

Each of these characters are tightly bound by their own issues of weakness, strength and growth. It's a nice flick which showcases the beauty of South Africa; from the urban centers to the rugged deserts to the vast plains.
