Review of Dogville (2003) by Zachary G — 23 Jan 2010
One of the riskiest films i've ever seen.. and i've certainly never seen a film like this before.. a theatre drama put in movie form.. only one man would make a movie like this and his name is Lars Von Trier.
. its like being in a theatre watching a play but a DAMN GOOD play.. I can't recommend this to anyone because the play scenario will probably turn off 95% of movie fans plus it almost clocks in at 3hrs long.
. I was ready to turn it off within 10 minutes and I was saying what the fuck is this crap but I stayed with it and the payoff was beyond my expectations and the ending was brutal.. excellent story.. GREAT acting by Nicole Kidman.
. almost perfect.. my only complaint that is if this was an "actual" movie it would of been epic.. but then again, this was different and brilliant..
