Review of Distant Voices, Still Lives (1988) by Anne F — 03 Aug 2009
Terence Davies portrays memories of the hard childhood of himself and his siblings with the use of music and flashbacks. The 'memories' look like memories - I don't know enough about film to know how he did that.
He shows other people's pleasant remebrances of his father, who was a violent man to his family and Davies' commetnary on the dvd is well worth listening to - he laughs about childhood memories and obviously remembers much of it very fondly.
