Review of Dead Season (2012) by Joe J — 02 Oct 2012
Elvis (Scott Peat) and Tweeter (Marissa Merrill) are trying to avoid the hordes of zombies that have overtaken the world. They travel to an isolated island in hopes of avoiding the zombies (known as "walkers"), but instead come into contact with a gang of ruthless rebels who've built a community there, and as long as they're useful, Elvis and Tweeter could stick around, while the whole island slowly becomes one walker paradise.
This reminds me of the game Dead Island, but it's still a zombie movie, and one that wasn't as bad as others. It takes a very Romero-style approach to the zombies, making them more of a background character, showing us that the worst kind of evil in a post-apocalyptic world isn't the undead - it's the humans. The acting wasn't the best, but it delivered a lot of action, scares, and surprisingly decent effects for a low-budget film.
