Review of Contact (1997) by Steve G — 08 Aug 2009

I really loved this movie, and for countless reasons. The thing that most struck me however is that generally I find myself feeling akin to Foster's character, though I myself am not purely science minded and do happen to believe in God.

I found myself coming away from this film not more eager for the pursuit of 'little green men' but feeling quite strongly that perhaps what this film showed me was that the pursuit of understanding ourselves and our own kind is more important.

Especially if one day we are to meet with ones beyond the stars, how are we to explain ourselves if we don't understand our own history and basest motivations.
