It is frightening to realize that the scenario depicted in this film occurred a number of times. It seems unbelievable that there would be people who would be duped and pressured into following such degrading instructions in the belief that an authority figure is giving the commands.

This film makes a good case for teaching people to question authority, and to be willing to resist when such perceived authority makes little sense, or requires you to violate your own convictions.
