Review of Claire's Knee (1970) by Mitch P — 20 Apr 2008
My personal favorite of the Six Moral Tales, "Claire's Knee" is vintage Rohmer. This film is perfect in so many ways: it stars perhaps the New Wave's finest actor, Jean-Claude Brialy, in one of Rohmer's greatest meditations on love and lust, set against the backdrop of Nestor Almendros' stunning photography of the French Alps.
Insightful and intoxicating, "Claire's Knee" is intellectual cinema at its finest.
