Review of Ciao (2008) by Christopher P — 06 Jan 2009
A beautiful and believable handling of the emotional impact of two very difficult situations and how the people involved deal with them. Its rare to find such depth and sensitivity in a director's second film.
I was not bothered by the slower pace and the minimal dialogue in certain scenes because they allowed me to really feel what the characters were feeling. I think the whole draw of this film is in its honest exploration of how people react in the moment to changing circumstances.
I've seen it 5 times, and it never fails to draw me in, even when I know the ending!
