Review of Brooklyn (2015) by David B — 01 Feb 2016
Great film, lovingly made in every way. Biggest surprise: Emory Cohen. What an amazing young actor. First I thought he had the freshness and welcoming, transparent charm of Paul Newman, then he had the physical smoldering of Marlon Brando, finally he had that edgy self-will of Sinatra.
But those comparisons do him no justice. He may have all those characteristics, but he ain't any of those actors. He is who he is, open and charming, smoldering, a bit driven. He could be one of our greatest actors if his roles and lifestyle cooperate.
We should be watching this guy.
