Review of Blue Velvet (1986) by Rishaad M — 22 Oct 2011
"It's a strange world isn't it?" This movie is beautiful. The events that happen in the movie aren't "beautiful" but the movie as a whole is beautiful. I'm in love with the way this movie looks and sounds.
The "bad" stuff that happens in this movie is in direct contrast with the beautiful parts of this movie. You want the robins to come. You have to go through a graveyard of dead robins to find any that are still alive.
It's a lot like life. You want the love, but there is a lot of shit you have to go through to get to it. The great thing is Dennis Hopper is both haunting, scary, and HILARIOUS all at the same time.
The cast in this film is perfect. It all works. This movie is strange and beautiful. I feel the same about most of David Lynch's movies. Strange and beautiful. That's why it's so great.
