Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Kyler E — 21 Apr 2012
This is not a Christian movie. It is a movie about a Christian who struggles with faith, doubt and hypocrisy in a very real and raw way. Don really pulls off the prodigal son in a really insightful and authentic way.
He wants to fit in and not stick out like a sore thumb in a worldly and liberal college. He blends in and conforms to be popular. He leaves his faith and convictions behind in a pursuit of the "better" life.
What he finds is dissatisfaction. He realizes that the way of Christ and the way of love and forgiveness are what he has been missing. The movie has a great resolution. I highly recommend this movie to anyone struggling with faith and doubt.
Great job Steve, Don and Ben!
