Review of Blindspotting (2018) by Jess C — 31 Jul 2018
This movie tackles a very broad range of dense social commentary: Racial profiling, police brutality, ptsd, cultural appropriation, gentrification, the justice system, poverty, etc... and it does so in an entertaining way.
Sprinkled throughout are spoken word raps that are mused from one actor to the other in the quieter moments. if you ever wondered what it was like to experience the hood from the downtrodden pov that is just struggling to get by, then this is your movie.
This movie challenges all kinds of stereotypes, and should leave you ready to converse over some very dense material.
