Review of Beeba Boys (2015) by Harmiena V — 16 Oct 2015
Beeba Boys is an Intimate and humorous depiction of a fiercely bonded gang of Indian Mafia pitting themselves against an existing organized crime organization-it brings out the best and the worst of macho competition. The context is the Canadian East Indian community . and as such is revealing and insightful in a way that Canadians of all origins feel compelled to see that is is just another example of the horrors occurring globally!
"BEEBA BOYS", with all it's beauty of action, is a straight-forward story, treated with the delicate compassion we have come to expect from Deepa Mehta, graphically suggesting levels of complicity we all participate in-and the whiff, a sense, that our salvation from the arc of self-destuction lies in the empathy induced by looking at the origins of our actions.
