Review of Becky (2020) by Jluis_001 — 13 Jun 2020
A bet on recycling that loses tension and entertainment much sooner than I think it expected.
Lulu Wilson and Kevin James are the most relevant elements of this film, however, the two of them don't work in the same way, and this is precisely due to the plot itself.
On one hand, Smith's dramatic turn is surprising, but the directors doesn't really give him much to do and are unable to get anything more relevant out of his role.
Lulu Wilson on the other hand plays on a cliché of a violent teenager and she really doesn't do anything more interesting.
And that's why Becky never starts to carbure and what's left is just what you read in the synopsis.
If there's one thing to emphasize about Becky, it's that perhaps Smith can achieve something more interesting in the dramatic field later on, because other than that you'll forget everything else very soon.
