Review of Beatriz at Dinner (2017) by James L — 16 Jun 2017
This movie is a good reminder that John Lithgow is one of the most underrated actors alive. His performance in this movie stole the show, despite a strong showing from Salma Hayek and the rest of the cast.
I saw a preview that advertised this as the first movie of the Trump era, and it certainly lived up to that superlative, with Lithgow's character being the embodiment of the greed, selfishness and crudity that has plagued the White House.
The only flaw of the movie is the ending, which was painfully disappointing and anticlimactic.
