Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Carlos R — 16 Sep 2010
An ironic and weird masterpiece of filmmaking. And so far, my favorite Coen's film. The characters are amazing, all of them. John Turturro gave an outstanding performance in the main role, John Goodman also stole every scene where he appeared, playing an incredibly sympathetic and crazy character.
The film is completely seen from Barton Fink's point of view, so we see, hear and think what he does, that's why we don't get any answers to some important events in the film (specially one) and the symbolism of the last scene is a wondeful mystery.
This film is a proof that there's no need to explain everything in a film, meanwhile the mystery sensation is welcome and excellent. The direction was superb, and it's filmed perfectly. I completely loved it, and I can't wait to see it again.
