Review of Anthropophagous (1980) by Adam G — 01 Jan 2008
Apparently director Joe Dâ??Amato didnâ??t think he made his audiences suffer enough with his first horror outing Beyond the Darkness and decided to further ruin his credibility with Anthropophagus, a slow moving thriller about a cannibal.
A group of young adults travel to a Greek island only to find it abandoned. This is due to the arrival of a psychotic cannibal (in the form of George Eastman). Shoddy made film seems to be made by novices (but their credentials clearly prove they are not) and only garnered attention for a notorious fetus eating scene and a scene where our cannibal begins to eat his own guts (which is proudly displayed on my versions of the cover art).
