Review of American Hardcore (2006) by Nik B — 16 Jun 2007
Seems to hit all the right numbers. It (ashamedly to admit) introduced me to a few excellent 80's Hardcore bands I had missed previous to viewing the video. Put together well, but loses cohesion in a few points.
The part about the pastor or what not seems very random and added in at the last minute, which is just one of few things that sorta detracted from the feel. Focused alot on the big ones like Black Flag, Minor Threat and Bad Brains, but as a friend of mine mentioned it didn't show enough of Dead Kenndys and a few other bands.
I think that there could have been more material on the NYHC scene like Murphy's Law and old Agnostic Front, and maybe a bit more on Cromags. Overall one of the better music documentaries to come about for a long while.
Kinda hoping that someone makes a UK '82 counterpart-type documentary.
